Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

Crossing Tizi n’Tichka Pass and the Jewel of Ait Ben Haddou

We commence our journey by traversing the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass, perched at 2,260 meters, soaking in breathtaking views of Berber villages and majestic mountainous landscapes. Our first stop is the legendary Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its striking adobe architecture and its role as the backdrop for films such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

From Ouarzazate to the Dades Valley

After lunch, we pass through Ouarzazate, where one can explore the Taourirt Kasbah or visit the famed Atlas Studios. We then proceed towards the Valley of Roses, followed by the awe-inspiring Dades Valley, where we spend the night in a charming riad nestled amidst dramatic rock formations and spectacular gorges.


Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga

Nature, Mountains, and Arrival at the Desert

Following breakfast, we set off towards the magnificent Todra Gorges, a natural limestone canyon soaring up to 300 meters high. We enjoy a leisurely hike along its river trails before continuing our journey to the desert, passing through quaint villages such as Tinjdad and Erfoud.

Camel Ride and Night Under the Stars

Upon arrival in Merzouga, we prepare for an unforgettable camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. We witness a mesmerizing sunset as we make our way to the Berber camp, where we dine beneath the stars, immerse ourselves in traditional music, and experience a magical night in nomadic tents.


Day 3: Merzouga – 4×4 Adventure – Oasis and Nomadic Villages

Cultural Exploration Across the Desert

We rise early to admire the sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. We embark on a thrilling 4×4 excursion around the Merzouga region, visiting Khamlia village, famed for its Gnawa community and soulful music. Our adventure also takes us to ancient mine beds, hidden dunes, and secret oases.

Second Night in Merzouga with Utmost Comfort

We return to Merzouga to unwind in a traditional hotel or riad, savoring an authentic dinner and enjoying another night in the desert—this time with enhanced comfort.


Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifrane

A Change of Scenery: From Desert to Cedar Forests of the Middle Atlas

Leaving the desert behind, we journey northward through the impressive Ziz Valley, abundant with date palm groves. We pause for lunch in Midelt, a city nestled in the heart of the Middle Atlas. Our route continues through lush forests until we arrive in Ifrane, often dubbed the “Switzerland of Morocco,” known for its alpine architecture and fresh mountain air. Overnight stay in a hotel or riad in or near Ifrane.


Day 5: Ifrane – Azrou – Meknes – Marrakech

A Cultural Return to Marrakech

In the morning, we visit Azrou, celebrated for its cedar forests and Barbary macaques. We then make a brief stop in Meknes, an imperial city rich in history and monumental architecture. Finally, we take the highway back to Marrakech, arriving in the afternoon and concluding our captivating journey through southern Morocco.
