An Unforgettable Adventure from Fez to Marrakech Through the Heart of the Desert
This 3-day tour from Fez to Marrakech is one of the most spectacular routes for those who wish to discover authentic Morocco, crossing the Middle Atlas and High Atlas, admiring green valleys, impressive gorges, centuries-old kasbahs, and spending a magical night in a tent in the heart of the Merzouga desert. Ideal for travelers with limited time who want to intensely experience the contrast between north and south, culture and nature.
Itinerary
Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Dunes
Early departure from Fez, crossing the landscapes of the Middle Atlas. Our first stop is Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture and orderly atmosphere. Then, we cross the cedar forest of Azrou, where it is possible to see Barbary macaques in the wild.
We continue south passing through Midelt, a city at the foot of the High Atlas. After lunch, we continue the journey through the impressive Ziz Valley, with its millions of date palm trees, until we reach the village of Merzouga.
In the afternoon, we take a dromedary excursion to the high dunes of Erg Chebbi, to enjoy a unique sunset over the golden sand. Arrival at our Berber camp in the heart of the desert, where a traditional dinner and music around the fire await us.
Dinner and night in a haima under the stars.
Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
We wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, a visual and spiritual experience that remains engraved in the soul. After breakfast at the camp, we resume the journey to Rissani, a city famous for its traditional souk and origin of the Alaouite dynasty.
We continue towards Tinghir and the spectacular Todra Gorges, a rock canyon up to 300 meters high. We will walk between its impressive walls before continuing through the Dades Valley, famous for its reddish landscapes and unique geological formations such as the “monkey fingers.”
Dinner and accommodation in a traditional riad in the Dades Valley.
Day 3: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Marrakech
After breakfast, we head to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert” and a key place in the Moroccan film industry. Here you can visit the Taourirt Kasbah or the Atlas film studios.
A few kilometers away is Morocco’s architectural jewel: the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. We enjoy a guided tour through its cobbled streets and panoramic views.
We continue our journey crossing the High Atlas through the impressive Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), with scenic stops to capture the beauty of the landscape. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon and end of our services.
