Itinerary
Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Azrou – Midelt
We depart early from Fez towards Ifrane, renowned for its alpine architecture and serene, refreshing atmosphere. Our journey continues to the cedar forest of Azrou, home to the Barbary macaques, which you can observe in their natural habitat.
Next, we traverse the majestic Middle Atlas mountain range, arriving at Midelt, a town celebrated for its apples and crisp mountain climate. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel to rest after the first day of adventure.
Day 2: Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga
From Midelt, we descend into the breathtaking Ziz Valley, famous for its lush oases and endless palm groves. We pass through traditional villages and arid landscapes until reaching Erfoud, known as the gateway to the desert.
Ultimately, we arrive at Merzouga, perched at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. In the afternoon, enjoy a camel trek to witness the sunset over the dunes, followed by a traditional Berber dinner and a night spent in a desert camp beneath a uniquely star-studded sky.
Day 3: Desert Sunrise – Merzouga – Khamlia – Rissani
We rise early to marvel at the desert sunrise over the dunes, then return to Merzouga for breakfast.
Our visit continues to the village of Khamlia, known as the home of the Gnawa people, where you can immerse yourself in their traditional music and ancestral culture.
Later, we head to Rissani, a historic town with vibrant traditional markets that truly embody the Berber and Arab spirit. Overnight in comfortable accommodation in the area.
Day 4: Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
The journey proceeds to the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges, where towering vertical rock walls form a spectacular canyon perfect for hiking and communing with nature.
We then continue to the Dades Valley, famously dubbed the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs,” a place rich in history and natural beauty. Accommodation in a traditional riad to relax.
Day 5: Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we set off towards the Skoura oasis, where we can explore several historic kasbahs and enjoy lunch amidst the palm groves.
Our route continues to Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Desert” and Morocco’s cinematic hub. We will tour the Taourirt Kasbah and, optionally, visit the film studios. Overnight stay in a hotel or riad in Ouarzazate.
