Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

The journey begins with an early departure from Fez. The first stop will be in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” for its fresh air and Alpine architecture. We continue towards the Azrou Cedar Forest, where you can observe the famous Barbary macaques in the wild, an experience that fascinates travelers of all ages.

Then, we cross the spectacular Ziz Valley, an oasis of date palms and traditional villages, ideal for photo stops and to enjoy the natural beauty. Finally, we arrive at Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert.

Day 2: Exploring the Merzouga Desert and Overnight in a Berber Camp

The second day is dedicated to discovering the secrets of the desert. After a relaxed breakfast, we’ll begin a 4×4 excursion to explore the surroundings of the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will visit Berber nomads in their traditional tents and share a tea with them, learning about their ancestral lifestyle. We will also explore the village of Khamlia, where we can enjoy a performance of Gnawa music, a heritage of former Sub-Saharan slaves.

At midday, we return to the accommodation to rest. In the afternoon, one of the most anticipated experiences begins: a camel ride across the golden sand dunes at sunset. This journey allows you to witness one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

We’ll pass through Rissani, the former capital of the Alaouite sultans and an important trading center in the south. Here you can visit the traditional local souk, one of the most authentic in Morocco.

We will travel again through the Ziz Valley, enjoying its spectacular views and stopping for panoramic photos. We pause for lunch in Midelt and then continue through the cedar forest before finally arriving in Fez at sunset.
