Itinerary: 13 days from Casablanca
Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca – Welcome to Morocco
We welcome our travelers at Casablanca International Airport. Depending on your arrival time, we take a panoramic tour to visit the Hassan II Mosque, an architectural masterpiece by the Atlantic Ocean and one of the largest mosques in the Islamic world. Transfer to the hotel and rest.
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we head to Rabat, the administrative capital of Morocco. We visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower, and the Kasbah of the Udayas, which offers an impressive ocean view.
We then continue north into the Rif Mountains until we reach the blue city of Chefchaouen—a magical place with cobbled streets and indigo-painted houses. Overnight in a traditional riad in the heart of the medina.
Day 3: Discovering Chefchaouen
We spend the day exploring Chefchaouen at a relaxed pace. Its peaceful streets and laid-back atmosphere make it one of the most picturesque destinations in North Africa. Highlights include Uta el-Hammam Square, the Grand Mosque, and a hike to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint overlooking the valley.
Day 4: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
We drive south to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We stroll among columns, mosaics, and temples that echo the region’s imperial past.
Next, we stop in Meknes, a lesser-known imperial city rich in history. We visit Bab Mansour Gate, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, and the Agdal Reservoir.
In the afternoon, we arrive in Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital.
Day 5: Exploring Fes – The Spiritual Jewel of Morocco
Fes is a city that captivates the senses. With a local guide, we explore the medieval medina of Fes el-Bali—one of the largest pedestrian zones in the world, full of labyrinthine alleys, artisan workshops, tanneries, and madrasas.
We visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, Al Quaraouiyine University, and the famous tanner’s quarter. We end the day on a rooftop terrace overlooking the city.
Day 6: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
Today, we cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane—known as the “Moroccan Switzerland”—and Azrou, home to the Barbary macaques.
We descend into the lush Ziz Valley, a stunning palm-filled oasis, before reaching the desert town of Merzouga. Overnight in a riad near the dunes.
Day 7: Merzouga – Sahara Desert Experience
The sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes is a highlight of the trip. After breakfast, we enjoy a full day in the Sahara: a 4×4 tour of the desert region, visits to nomadic families, and a stop in the village of Khamlia to experience the music of the Gnawa people.
In the afternoon, we ride camels into the heart of the dunes to our luxury Berber camp. Dinner under the stars is accompanied by live traditional music around the fire.
Day 8: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After returning by camel, we journey west through the desert landscape. We visit the spectacular Todra Gorges—towering rock canyons reaching up to 300 meters, a favorite among climbers and travelers.
We then continue to the Dades Valley, known as the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Overnight in a charming guesthouse overlooking the valley.
Day 9: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
We travel toward Ouarzazate, visiting the Atlas Film Studios and the Kasbah of Taourirt. Then, we explore the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site and backdrop for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
We cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and arrive in Marrakech, the “Red City.”
Day 10: Marrakech – Between Souks and Palaces
A full day to explore Marrakech with a local guide. We visit the Majorelle Garden, Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, and the Ben Youssef Madrasa.
We dive into the vibrant souks of the medina, where the city’s soul comes alive. In the evening, Jemaa el-Fna Square turns into a lively spectacle of music, food, and storytelling.
Day 11: Marrakech – Essaouira (Beach & Relaxation)
We travel to the Atlantic coast to reach Essaouira, a bohemian seaside town. We explore the walled medina, the bustling fishing port, and stroll along golden sandy beaches.
Essaouira is also known for its thuya woodcraft and relaxed vibe.
Day 12: Essaouira – Casablanca
After breakfast by the sea, we return to Casablanca, passing through argan tree groves. We can visit local women’s cooperatives that produce this precious oil.
Arrival in Casablanca and free evening to enjoy a seaside dinner.
Day 13: End of the Journey – Transfer to the Airport
